A city high flier turned photographer is using his latest exhibition to help the hospital that saved his son’s life.

Scott Mead, who worked for Goldman Sachs before returning to his teenage passion for photography, spends hours researching flight plans to get his pictures from airplane windows while travelling the world.

The American, who lives in London, will give all the proceeds from his new book and exhibition to Great Ormond Street. He said: “Nearly 25 years ago, at the age of six months, my son was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and spent nine months in the hospital. I lived there, I was there many months and was deeply, deeply moved and became passionately committed to doing what I can to help the hospital.”

Mead, whose involvement with the hospital includes fundraising and visiting patients with his son to share their experience, is showing his work Above The Clouds at a Mayfair gallery.

He said the pictures reflect the “sense of magic in travel”. He said: “I have come to find that above the clouds, while looking out the window and into oneself, these answers and insights, and a clearer view of past, present and future, may well await you.”

Above The Clouds is at Hamiltons Gallery, 13 Carlos Place, until Friday
