The BRITs have announced Tate McRae as the final performer for this year’s ceremony.

Speaking on the news, Tate said: "I'm so excited to be returning to London for my first BRIT Awards! It is the biggest honour to be performing on the iconic BRITs stage. It's going to be an unforgettable night!"

The 20-year-old singer is nominated in International Song of the Year for her UK Top 3 and US Billboard Global 200 #1 hit single greedy.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 2, at The O2 in London, and will be broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX.

Ellie Goulding, Calvin Harris, Becky Hill, Chase & Status, Jungle, Rema, Kylie, Dua Lipa, and RAYE are also among those set to perform.

Tate’s early success on YouTube

Born in 2003, Tate McRae attended The American International School Muscat growing up and began recreational dance training at the age of six.

Since its creation in 2011, McRae's YouTube channel has featured a stream of primarily dance videos. In 2017, she started Create With Tate, a video series featuring original songs she wrote and recorded in her bedroom. The series' first song, One Day, which she wrote at the age of 14, attracted more than 40 million views, prompting her to release the song as an independent single, which became certified gold in Canada.

One Day later caught the attention of 11 record labels, and she eventually signed with RCA Records, in August 2019.

Her debut EP, All The Things I Never Said was released in January 2020.

In 2022 came the arrival of McRae's debut album I Used To Think I Could Fly. Think Later was her second studio album.

McRae's fandom is referred to as her "tater tots".

Tate’s TikTok fame

In 2020, McRae was featured on TikTok's The Come Up: Emerging Artists list as one of the top up-and-coming stars on the platform.

That Way, a track from her first EP, experienced a resurgence in 2021 after going viral on TikTok and entering the charts in the UK and Ireland. She also released a remix of That Way with Jeremy Zucker later that year. By December 2023, the EP had amassed more than 729 million streams on Spotify.

In 2023, she ranked as the sixth most popular Canadian musician on the platform.

McRae romance and rumours

Back in 2021, McRae sparked dating rumours with Canadian professional hockey player Cole Sillinger in 2021, after he admitted in an interview that she was his celebrity crush.

She later posted a photo of them coupled up on vacation.

The songstress spoke about her boyfriend at the time during interview with ET in August 2022. “He’s one of my brothers’ friend’s friends so it all worked out,” she began, revealing that she started talking to Cole after his celeb crush reveal. “It was really funny – I was like, ‘I can forever hold this over you till the day you die, that I was your celebrity crush’.'”

In early 2023, the pair sparked breakup rumours after Cole deleted his photos of the pop star. Tate’s post in her No Boyfriend, No Problem T-shirt also took over social media as people speculated about the breakup.

In September 2023, McRae confirmed that she is single.

New rumours recently surfaced about a romance between McRae and Australian rapper and singer The Kid Laroi.

In January 2024, Tate and The Kid Laroi both shared pictures on Instagram Stories of a gorgeous sunset from what looks to be the same yacht.
