If you were looking for a new London experience, you’re in luck. Soon you’ll be able to watch movies on the beach in Elephant & Castle.

Backyard Cinema, which has previously brought pop-up movie theatres themed around chapels, gardens and dinosaurs to different parts of the capital, will be bringing the sandy screen to the area from the end of May.

It will take over a space at Newington Causeway food market Mercato Metropolitano for the duration of summer, and take its style lead from Miami as opposed to Blackpool, Bournemouth or Brighton.

Ticket holders will be able to leave their shoes at the door and change into a pair of Backyard Cinema flip-flops so that they can feel the sand between their toes.

They'll also be able to and enjoy tropical cocktails from a beach bar while they take in a film, and tropical clothing to match the setting is encouraged.

The film line-up spans a broad selection of recent hits and golden oldies, including Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing, Grease, Scarface, Moana and La La Land.
