Pallet Paradise: A free arts festival in a car park this weekend

A team of local artists will be transforming a Tottenham car park into a labyrinthine performance space this weekend using 629 recycled pallet boxes.

The project – spearheaded by artists Jenna Jardine and Joe Wright – has been underway for over a year and is designed to remove the idea of claustrophobic white walls from the gallery experience and challenge both visitors and contributing artists alike with the unusual nature of its performance and exhibition spaces.

Those entering the maze-like corridors of the venue built from pallets will be able to find performances and immersive experiences at every turn. These will span digital art, crafts, sculpture, storytelling and painting as well as live music.

Features will include a 3D motion gallery from photographer Edmund Fraser, whose digital portraits eerily follow you as you walk back and forth, and a distorted light experience using prisms from visual artist Carolina Khouri.

Pallet Paradise will run throughout the day and into the late night this weekend – Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October – with the daylight hours being child-friendly but the evenings reserved for 18s and over as live music and a bar kick things up a notch.

Entry is completely free, though donation boxes will be available to help cover costs.
