Prepare yourself, Stranger Things fans — because the Upside Down is coming to London.

Netflix has confirmed an immersive, multimedia experience inspired by the hit show will land in the capital this summer, taking guests back to 1986 as they explore some of Stranger Things’ most iconic locations, as well as the supernatural realm that lies below it.

Attendees will find themselves plunged into a spooky parallel universe and — following an original storyline developed by the show’s creators — tasked with trying to escape back to the safety of Hawkins, Indiana.

Once they do re-emerge, guests will be able to explore Mix-Tape, a venue that recreates some of the programme’s best-known spots, from Scoops Ahoy, which will be serving up USS Butterscotch sundaes, to the Palace Arcade, in which gamers can try to beat MADMAX’s high score.

A Stranger Things-themed bar will offer up cocktails, while real-life characters from the show will wander the area. Exclusive merchandise will also be available to buy.

“We know our Stranger Things fans will embrace the chance to be the heroes of the story, working alongside Eleven, Mike and the rest of the gang to fight the evil threatening to consume Hawkins,” said Greg Lombardo, head of experiences at Netflix. “Fans love losing themselves in the world when they watch the show. Now, for the first time, they will be able to live out an episode from the series in real life.”

The immersive experience is set to last around 45 minutes, with unlimited time in Mix-Tape. Exact locations and dates are yet to be confirmed, but tickets are set to go on sale on May 12, with prices starting at £39. Head to strangerthings-experience.com for more information. It previous ran to some acclaim in both New York and Los Angeles.

The show follows on from Secret Cinema’s Stranger Things experience, which landed in London back in 2019. This new event is a collaboration between Netflix and discovery platform Fever.

Volume One of the fourth season of Stranger Things comes to Netflix on May 27.
