If the annual Oxford vs Cambridge rowing doesn’t float your boat, there’s another race happening on the same day — with a furry twist.

The Spitalfields Farm Goat Race is back for its eleventh year this weekend and, as ever, promises to be a bit of a laugh. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is the Goat Race?

The light-hearted event sees two pygmy goats go horn-to-horn in a short race around Spitalfields City Farm, to see who really is the G.O.A.T.

As ever, the competition will take place the same day as the annual boating race, which falls on Sunday April 7 this year.

Gates open at midday for guests to have a gander around the east London farm, and the race will kick off whenever the woolly contestants are ready — usually around 4.30pm.

DJs, live music, farm-related games, a pun-based performance piece and other entertainment will be on offer to keep spectators entertained before the race commences, and an official bookie will also be on hand throughout the afternoon to take any bets.

Organisers certainly aren’t kid-ding around this year either, as from 6pm they’re hosting an official after party at the nearby Dundee Arms on Cambridge Heath Road.

Where is the Goat Race?

Spitalfields City Farm is on Buxton Street, E1 5AR. Nearby train stations include Bethnal Green, Shoreditch High Street, Whitechapel, Liverpool Street and Aldgate East.

How to get tickets

Sadly the Goat Race has now sold out, but a few tickets are being resold on the official Facebook event, so best to keep your eyes peeled on the page.

Do you have to pay to visit London Spitalfields City Farm?

On a regular, non-goat race day, entry for Spitalfields City Farm is free. The site is open Tuesday to Sunday between 10am – 4pm from October – March and 10am – 4.30pm from April – September.
