A Tower of London exhibition that claims to be the world’s oldest visitor attraction re-opens to the public tomorrow after a revamp.

Line of Kings, which presents a history of monarchy through armour and weapons, has been a feature of visits to the ancient site for 350 years.

The magnificent display had in the past contained many errors and anachronisms, including armour wrongly attributed to William the Conqueror. It also excluded all Britain’s queens, as well as infamous monarchs such as Richard III.

The new line corrects the history — where necessary — of more than 500 objects in the White Tower.

It cannot, however, resurrect the bad monarchs as the armour and weaponry relating to them were not kept at the time.

Alex Gaffikin, of Historic Royal Palaces, said: “This is a tremendous 21st century re-display and I think visitors will be astounded when they walk in.”
