Asian adventure: Kaori Arpege at Sake No Hana
Barchick28 April 2016

The bar: Sake No Hana

The drink: Kaori Arpege

What’s in it? Gin, yuzu sake, cherry liqueur, peach bitters, grapefruit juice and agave. It’s then spritzed with your choice from three different aroma sprays.

Why should we try it? The team at Sake No Hana have created an impressive cocktail list for their cherry blossom garden pop up. This one takes you on some kind of Asian adventure and is just as fresh as it sounds. It’s fruity with cherry liqueur and peach bitters, but the agave steps in to mellow out the zesty grapefruit. Perfectly balanced. But this drink had us at yuzu sake: sake is one of our favourite drinks of all time and we can't get enough of how bartenders are starting to mix it up in cocktails. The Kaori Arpege is freshening up this fermented rice wine with yuzu, a citrus fruit, and it’s spot on. Finish your drink off with a spritz of their amazing aromas: cherry, black cherry and cinnamon; elderflower and jasmine; and violet. Each completely alters the first taste of the cocktail so choose wisely...

Where do we get it? Can’t get over to Japan for sakura (cherry blossom) season? Sake No Hana are bringing it to London with their cherry blossom garden pop up, and you can get a taste of it up ‘til 18th June 2016. By day expect petals floating down to a grass floor and by night the garden is lit up by twinkling lights. It’s pretty special. If you’re hungry then the special 7 course sakura menu has your name on it.
