Simple and sophisticated: a Rusty Nail
Barchick7 October 2015

The bar name: Brass & Crimson at the London Cocktail Week Hub

The drink: Rusty Nail

What’s in it? One part Drambuie, two parts Scotch whisky, a twist of lemon peel

Why should we try it? The Rusty Nail is a simple and sophisticated whisky cocktail that born in the New York clubs of the early 1960s - one sip and you’re kicking back in a smoky jazz club in New York's hedonistic glory days. As the minimal ingredients (sans mixers) would suggest, this one packs a punch. A fine Scotch is mixed with the Drambuie, a blend of aged Scotch whisky, honey, herbs, and spices and it’s served a fresh and sour twist of lemon peel. It’s a sipper. Didn’t think heavy Scotch based drinks were your thing? It’s time you gave it a try, and when they’re being served at £8 for London Cocktail Week, there’s no time like the present!

Where do we get it? The Brass & Crimson a pop up bar for London Cocktail Week hidden in The Basement Bar at 'Smiths' in Spitalfields. The bar’s inspired by the New York jazz scene of the Forties, so expect smoky jazz tunes, dim lights, strong drinks and a hell of a lot of fun well in to the afterhours. Swing by for a classic Rusty Nail cocktail or get in to the London Cocktail eek vibe by booking in for a "From New York to London via Scotland" masterclass.
