BarChick's cocktail of the week: The Fresh Shadow at House of Peroni

Celebrate the summer with this refreshing taste of Italy
Flavoursome but as simple as it gets: The Fresh Shadow
Barchick16 June 2015

The drink: The Fresh Shadow

What’s in it? Peroni Nastro Azzurro, strawberry, raspberry, peach, lychee and apple topped with a fruity foam

Why should we try it? Because it’s summer, you probably wish you were in Italy and nothing says Italian like some fresh fruit and an ice cold Italian beer. House of Peroni has gone and got the hottest Italian of them all, Simone Carporale from The Artisan, to design some banging beer cocktails - so get ready to change your expectations about mixing beer with cocktails. This one is as flavoursome but simple as it gets: the crisp taste of the fresh summer fruits give it a sweet first sip but this sweetness is balanced out with the slight bitterness of the beer. The Fresh Shadow is served long, ice cold and with a flamboyant foam for you to sip it through. Can’t get enough of it? Order a sharing jug and settle in for the day.

Where do we get it? The House of Peroni is back for another summer of Italian naughtiness and this year it has made its way to Brick Lane for a month long stint ending on June 10. You may have been to this spot for the Sunday market but you won’t believe what these guys have done to it! The space is themed around the Italian Piazza (that’s a square to you and me) and they’ve gone and got one of the most talented Experience Directors, Simon Costin to run wild with his imagination. Book everything from the private dining area that sits on a clear glass floor –so you can see right into the kitchen – to a cinema session with free beers or just kick back with a Peroni cocktail in one of the three killer bars.
