Beaver Lodge - bar review

Have your hot pants at the ready for a hoedown, says Emma Powell
Yee-hah! Get down to cowtown at Beaver Lodge
Emma Powell5 February 2015

What they say: A Wild West-themed bar and dance saloon on Fulham Road where cowboy wannabes can be “expectin’ good whiskey, good times and more crazy shindigs than you can crack a whip at”.

What we say: Expect a right royal rodeo in an underground wooden lodge laden with cowboy memorabilia like (fake) animal skins, a miniature wagon, moose heads and mounted rifles. Daisy Duke lookalikes in plaid shirts, braces and boots serve a hefty selection of cocktails and are prone to breaking into the odd impromptu line dance. As expected, Country and Western music peppers the soundtrack, but if you’re not a fan of dancing to Dolly, the dance saloon plays all the usual hits.

Crack the whip: Beaver Lodge on Fulham Road

Order: If you want to be suitably sozzled and don’t mind drinking from a boot try The Kick Ass cocktail with bourbon, whiskey, orgeat syrup and a selection of fruit juices. If not, try a pint of Samuel Adams from the bar’s selection of American beer.

Good for: A night out with friends who are willing to don their hot pants for a hoedown.

By the way: Beaver Lodge is the latest venture from The Inception group who are the brains behind Mr. Fogg’s, Cocobananas and Bunga Bunga.

Find it: Open Thursday to Saturday from 10pm. 266 Fulham Road, SW10 9EL, beaverlodge-london.com
