Bob Bob Cité will finally open March 2019 – just 14 months late

Champagne awaits: Bob Bob Ricard's sister site will open March 2019

Owner of Soho’s Bob Bob Ricard, Leonid Shutov, has kept Londoners on their toes for the past year, but finally has a date for the opening of his new fizz-fuelled branch of Bob Bob Ricard.

Shutov confirmed Bob Bob Cité will open its doors on Monday March 25 2019 a full 14 months after it had originally planned to launch.

"Good things come to those who wait," Shutov said of the news, "Bob Bob Ricard was two years late when we built it, so I feel this is already a big improvement!

“One concierge service told us that they have had over five thousand reservation requests for Bob Bob Cité since it has been delayed. I am thrilled that, come March, we will be able to welcome everyone to enjoy Eric’s outstanding food in a restaurant which I hope will become as much of a City of London landmark as the Cheesegrater itself.”

The original site — now something of a Soho institution, a decade after opening — is named for Shutov himself, who is sometimes known as Bob.

The new restaurant will be located in the Leadenhall Building also known as the Cheesegrater — suspended above a 30-meter high open-air atrium. The space will have 190 covers across two dining rooms, with three private dining suites.

The new menu, designed by Michelin-starred chef Eric Chavot, will boast contemporary classic French country-style plates. Many of the ingredients will be locally sourced — though, bizarrely, mineral water is set to be shipped in from French seaside town Arcachon.

Instagrammers fear not, Bob Bob Cité will be decked out with familiar glamorous decor and fitted with the signature ‘press for champagne’ buttons. They'll also boast London's largest choice of Armagnac, with one dating back to 1888.
