Harry’s Bar to open new Oxford Street site

Swanky: A design for the Harry’s Bar restaurant opening off Oxford Street next month, with Italian food from breakfast to dinner

A West End spin-out from the Harry’s Bar private members’ club in Mayfair is to open next month off Oxford Street.

The 150-seat all-day bar and restaurant will serve Italian food from breakfast to late-night dinner in a Fifties-style wood-panelled dining room on James Street near Selfridges.

The original Harry’s Bar was opened by club entrepreneur Mark Birley in South Audley Street in 1979. It was bought by restaurant tycoon Richard Caring just over a decade ago but has remained only open to members and their guests.

The James Street location is expected to be the first in series of new Harry’s Bar venues opening across London. Harry’s Dolce Vita is a sister brand restaurant which is opposite Harrods in Knightsbridge.

The kitchen will be run by Diego Cardoso, who previously worked at Angela Hartnett’s Michelin-starred Italian Murano in Mayfair. The new restaurant will have a large terrace with space for up to 48 guests to dine alfresco on James Street. It will open from 8am to midnight during the week and 9am to midnight at the weekend.
