Plenty of choice at Bishops Finger

10 April 2012

An old favourite in Smithfield, this one has stayed pretty constant for the last few years. Located practically next to St Bartholomew's Hospital and St Bartholomew the Grand (one of the churches from Four Weddings and a Funeral), it's also near the place William Wallace was executed, way back when - it's in a pretty historic area all in all, on the edge of the City of London.

It's got a good range of Shepherd Neame ales to work your way through and a decent range of pub food to fill up on while drinking - although with the famous Smithfield meat market across the road you'd expect little else.

Some fine old cartoons and drawings decorate the walls and add to the pleasant air of the place. It can get pretty crowded at lunchtimes and after work, but it's still worth a look if you're in the area or need a break from sightseeing.

NEAREST STATION: City Thameslink station
FEATURES: disabled facilities, ATM, real ales, function room available, outdoor seating
