The place to chat over a decent pint: The Sutton Arms
10 April 2012

The Sutton Arms is a refreshingly old-fashioned sort of pub.

The sort of place where people meet to chat over a pint of decent (Cask Marque) beer, or watch the sport on the telly with your mates etc.

You know, the sort of thing people used to do in pubs before they turned gastro.

There's food here too - sarnies, cottage pie, burgers etc - mainly for the lunch time crowd, but, in any case, food is not the be all and end all of this place.

The service is polite, fast and very friendly and the atmosphere is cordial and relaxed.

The Sutton Arms is a revitalising antidote to the unremitting (and often unnecessary) remodelling of pubs and bars in these parts.

And for some inexplicable reason this old-fashioned mix of conviviality and service doesn't seem to float the boat of the denizens of this district, it's rarely as crowded as the surrounding places.

You'd be well advised to get here before the Sutton Arms catches the eyes of the developers.
