Take a trek to the Tavern

The Star Tavern: Not in need of any hackneyed gangster chic
10 April 2012

Some would have you think (wrongly, we believe) that the Great Train Robbers supped here whilst pondering their grand scheme. But the Star Tavern doesn't need any hackneyed gangster chic to attract the punters to an oasis in the area.

Being quite small it's not the best place for a rowdy night out, but you do get an excellent selection of Fuller's ales as well as traditional pub food, all served up by the attentive staff who seem genuinely chuffed that you're frequenting their pub.

Also, the clientele can be a bit more mixed than in some of the other boozers in the area. You may find it a bit of a trek getting to this place - and it can fill up rapidly - but it's definitely worth a look. It has a lovely upstairs bar as well as what can only be described as the smallest gents toilets in London.
