The Twumps: Donald Trump penthouse themed bar opens to 'poke fun' at the president

The bar will highlight the irony of the way the president lives

A bar designed to look like Donald Trump’s $100 million penthouse apartment in New York, where Londoners can “poke fun” at the American president, is opening tonight.

The Twumps pop-up bar has been built in Shoreditch community arts hub Richmix and is a replica of Mr Trump’s 66th-floor penthouse in Trump Tower, which apparently takes its inspiration from the Palace of Versailles.

Twumps co-founders Katy McGhie and Annie Hughes have even included a gold desk with love letters to Russian president Vladimir Putin written on it.

The bar will donate 50p from every drink sold to charities that help people the organisers deem to have been adversely affected by the Trump presidency. McGhie, 34, a TV producer, and Hughes, 24, a production manager, said they wanted to highlight the “obscenity” and irony of the way the president lives.
