Urban night Livin' Proof has a talent for booking next-big-thing acts, with past guests including A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown and Hudson Mohawke. Tonight they've got Flatbush Zombie, a rap crew hailing from New York who, along with Action Bronson and Joey Bada$$, are helping to lead a renaissance of the city’s scene under the ‘Beast Collective’ banner. Expect explosive, invigorating rap from these newcomers.

T. Williams

The Nest, Fri Aug 9

Former grime producer turned house head T. Williams has been on hiatus of late, knuckling down to work on new material. The fruits of his labours are starting to trickle through, with two-step influenced bangers Three Letters and On My Own posted online recently. The man himself comes to Dalston’s The Nest to test out the new tracks, with support from Hypercolour’s Shenoda.

The Nest, 36 Stoke Newington Road, N16 7XJ, 9pm-4am, £7, ilovethenest.com

Hackney Attic, Fri Aug 9

Aha! To celebrate North Norfolk’s favourite radio DJ making his big screen debut, the folks at Hackney Picturehouse are hosting a disco in his honour at their upstairs venue. Expect Abba, Eagles, the best of the Bond soundtracks, Kate Bush, Wings ("the band the Beatles could have been") and other Partridge classics. Hopefully there’ll be Terry’s chocolate oranges to eat and you'll be able to order your own ladyboys at the bar.

Hackney Attic, 270 Mare Street, E8 1HE, 8pm-1am, £5, picturehouses.co.uk

Those nice folks at Canon and MySpace – remember it? – are footing the bill, offering partygoers free entry first come, first serve. Head over to the Love Dough website now to secure your space.

South Place Hotel, Sat Aug 10

Shoreditch haunt XOYO has been roaming the capital throwing parties in unusual locations under the banner xoyoloves. This week it returns to plush new Moorgate hotel and members' club South Place, bringing a crop of the finest disco selectors. Vauxhall’s legendary Horse Meat Disco headlines this daytime party with support from re-edit master Dimitri from Paris and French house producer dOP.

Lightbox, Sat Aug 10

Regular house showcase night Connected has had to find a new home since the sad closure of Bermondsey hot spot Cable. It's settled on Vauxhall’s Lightbox, sister club of Fire, and is re-starting things this weekend with a bang. On the bill are Londoner Clive Henry, Amsterdam producer Julien Chaptal and veteran party starters krankbrother.
