Harry Styles vs Prince Harry: where to party in London, Harry style

The prince of hearts and the Prince of Wales hold equal claim to the London nightlife crown so follow their lead when it comes to going out on the tiles

There’s no better place for a party than London, and who better to guide you through the capital's nightlife than the two Harrys? Styles and Wales have mastered the art of going out - here’s a selection of their favourite haunts.

Prince Harry

When Bodo’s opened late last year it was inevitable it would become a regular Harry haunt. Part-owned by two of the Prince’s best mates, Thomas van Straubenzee and Tom ‘Skippy’ Inskip, this Alpine ski lodge-inspired restaurant-cum-disco has just the right blend of nostalgia, kitsch and affluence for a Royal. Staffed by buxom waitresses clad in gingham lederhosen, Bodo’s is rumoured to have a back door that leads directly to Kensington Palace Gardens, so Harry can make a swift getaway when he’s properly off piste.

Another venue founded by a mate of the Prince, Tonteria is the brainchild of Guy Pelly, the man behind Harry’s former favourite club Public. Like Bodo’s, it’s a themed venue, with Pelly transporting Sloane rangers to deepest Mexico. As you’d expect, frozen Margarita is the booze du jour, along with tequila that’s transported above revellers heads on a miniature train.

Soho’s most notorious nightspot is also its most exclusive, so it's unlikely you’ll get past the heavy wooden doors. If you do make it in, you’ll find an explicit and bizarre ‘fetish burlesque’ show – entertainment is said to exclude dwarf acrobats, pigs licking food from strippers’ stomachs and dancers dressed as giant vaginas. But that hasn't put off the Royals - as well as Harry, Zara Philips and Princess Beatrice have been pictured sneaking out of this den of depravity. Be quick though, as the Standard reported in February, the club has built up debts of £2.3 million since opening so it may not be around for much longer.

Harry’s local on Fulham Road, this upmarket boozer is where the Prince celebrated his homecoming after his tour of duty in Afghanistan. One step above even a gastropub, it borders on being a restaurant and, like all of Harry’s hangouts, it’s as posh as crisp village cricket whites. Make sure you've got enough cash to afford a glass of the finest Chablis, not just a pint of John Smith's.

The latest addition to Notting Hill's bar scene, this Caribbean-inspired beach shack and rum cellar sells more than 100 different rums. Harry was pictured earlier this month leaving there with girlfriend Cressida Bonas, no doubt reminiscing about his visit to Jamaica last year.

Harry Styles

Once a favourite of Prince Harry, the Polynesian-themed nightspot is these days frequented by the new generation of London celebs taking over the capital. Styles regularly cavorts here with pals Rita Ora, Cara Delevigne and Nick Grimshaw. Cocktails are the order of the day - try Mahiki's signature brand coconut rum or, if you can handle it, order the famous £100 Treasure Chest cocktail.

The Rose Club

This bar with mirrored walls is another celeb hotspot from the men behind Mahiki, nightlife empresarios Nick House and Piers Adam. Styles went here for a lads night out last year with fellow X Factor stars JLS' Aston Merrygold and Olly Murs, and the West End haunt is also reportedly a favourite of Kim Kardashian.

Leaving the cosy confines of SW and W postcodes, One Direction's famous bad boy ventured east for his 19th birthday in February to Rita's, the ever-so-hip bar and restaurant above trendy club Birthdays. 250-capacity Birthdays regularly hosts buzz bands such as LA up-and-comers Haim and old favourites Bloc Party and is the latest hype venue out east. What to drink? Frozen Margaritas if Styles' birthday bar tab is anything to go by - his party had 99 of them.

After Rita's, Harry and co headed out to Dalston’s Alibi, long a regular stop for east London hipsters trekking Kingsland High Street. This dingy dive bar is the epitome of east London cool, owned by a collective, home to regular karaoke and film nights, and soundtracked by a mixture of 90s throwbacks and house. Beer and shots are de rigueur.

The Groucho Club is bound to be Harry's spiritual home - its postcode is W1D. This Soho town house is a private members club for the media and arts. Translation: a hotbed of high-profile names. Styles regularly hangs out here with pals Nick Grimshaw and James Corden, and other members include Stephen Fry, Noel Gallagher and Sienna Miller. Sounds great? The only problem is membership requires a proposer and seconder who are current members and even then there's no guarantee you'll get in. Oh well, we can dream.
