Al Desko: Awfully Posh Pork Crackling

Andrew Neather29 August 2012

What: Awfully Posh Pork Crackling, chilli or sea salt flavour

From: Harrods, Partridge’s (£1, awfullyposhsnacks.com)

Taste: Like any pork scratchings, I’m sure these are terribly bad for you (around 17 grammes of fat per bag — their vaunted gluten-free status is neither here nor there). But that’s hardly the point. Deliciously fatty and crunchy, the sea salt ones are a classic crackling flavour. But it was the chilli that set me manically scrunching through a whole bag, even while on deadline. The only problem, apart from my arteries, was an almost irresistible, animal longing to down a pint immediately afterwards.
