Butter & Mint Crisps

What: Butter & Mint Crisps

Where from: Fairfields Farm

Taste assessment: The resolutely lo-fi local English country flavourings of Essex farming couple Laura and Robert Strathern’s new range of crisps is appealing but mainly in the expectation that they will be disgusting. In fact the faint mouthwash overtones are not unpleasant but they sit strangely alongside the more familiar fried, buttery base of the crisp. Now if Fairfields crisps were somehow cooked more in the manner of new potatoes, like the baked, popped and puffed potato snacks currently hitting our shelves, they might work rather better.
