Five things Fay Maschler ate this week

From honey-roast ham at home to miso-glazed aubergine in Primrose Hill — five things our restaurant critic ate this week
12 December 2012

1. At Riva in Barnes celebrating 20 years married to Reg, luxurious ingredients, eg culatello with baby artichokes fried Roman style, but the greatest luxury of all was every choice being made by our friend Andrea Riva.

2. Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs sitting at the bar in Green’s of Duke Street, St James’s — fortification for concentrated Christmas shopping.

3. Supper at home after Reg Gadney’s private view at Rebecca Hossack Gallery in Conway Street, W1 (until tomorrow): honey-roast ham from Select Meats with gratin Dauphinois.

4. An hour’s train ride from St Pancras and next to Canterbury West station is Rafael’s Restaurant at The Goods Shed. Fine pickled herrings to eat, crab apples and rosehips to buy.

5. Miso-glazed aubergines with smoked aubergine relish and peanuts at Greenberry Café, new to Primrose Hill — and a godsend. More about Greenberry in 2013.
