London's bars, restaurants and hotels are hotspots for design inspiration. This time Evening Standard online visits Pizza Pilgrims in Soho.
Quirky: Pizza Pilgrims has the right mix of retro and contemporary design

The look: Retro and rustic

Who's behind the vision? Founders Thom and James. The pair started their eatery in a three-wheeled pizza oven van. They took it on a pilgrimage to Italy, where they honed their skills as pizza pros. Many a popular pop-up later, the Soho restaurant was born.

Buzzing: Pizza Pilgrims has a convenient Dean Street location

What's the inspiration? Thom and James wanted to achieve a retro yet simplistic Italian eatery with some added elements to create a fun environment. The use of Italian film stills, ceiling fans and Campari lights capture the culture, along with a Fuss-ball table given to Pizza Pilgrims by Aperol for the finishing touch.

Delicious: Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung have tried the authentic tasting pizza

Who goes there? Soho hipsters. Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung and Kelly Brook have also tucked into the delicious pizzas.

Shop the style: Italian film posters can be purchased at allposters.co.uk; head to conranshop.co.uk for Campari lights.

Funky: Campari lights and cool artwork brighten up the space

What's on the menu? Flour is imported from Italy so these pizzas have a really authentic taste. The toppings are always fresh - we particularly enjoyed the Portobello Mushroom & Truffle pizza and Bufala (buffalo mozarella) option. For pudding, the Nutella Pizza Ring tastes as good as it sounds. It's one to share but don't leave without trying it. Excellent value, great quality food. As for drinks, there is a good range of Prossecco, Italian wines on tap and favourites such as Birra Moretti and San Pellegrino soft drinks.

Fresh: the pizza dough is imported from Italy

Cheque out: Pizzas start from £7 so you could have a three course meal with a drink for around £20.
