The element of surprise a child gets from opening Kinder Surprise capsule does not fade with age, apparently.

People have discovered the rather obvious reason why the capsules inside Kinder Surprise eggs are coloured yellow, and are taking to Twitter to express their amazement.

It turns out, the yellow pods are supposed to be the yolk of the chocolate egg.

The mind-blowing revelation emerged on mumsnet's 'lightbulb moments' thread - where users reveal the things that have taken them their adult lifetime to work out.

The momentous occasion for adult fans of the brand proved almost as sweet as when mum or dad would finally give in and bring home the cherished treat from the sweet shop.

The news quickly made its way around the internet, prompting Twitter users to express their amazement about the earth-shattering revelation.
