You can now buy French vegan camembert and it looks delicious

Going vegan doesn’t have to mean giving up cheese

One of the biggest deterrence’s to going vegan is the prospect of giving up cheese.

Perfectly paired with baguette and a glass of hearty red wine on a Thursday night, cheese is a luxury many love to indulge in and would find it most difficult to forgo.

In the wake of Veganuary, however, those considering veganism can now rejoice (them, and the half a million vegans in the UK). Because a French company has now launched a great new vegan camembert.

Les Petits Veganne, owned by 28-year-old Anne Guth, specialises in vegan 'cheeses'. Her camembert is made from vegetable properties, meaning it cannot be marketed as 'cheese' (because it is not made from animal milk) but still, it looks pretty similar.

It's made from cashew milk, which is mixed with cultures, left to ferment and then matured for a month.

Great news for those who are lactose intolerant - this vegan 'cheese' contains no lactose at all!

Aside from the camembert, Les Petits Veganne have a plethora of other ‘cheeses’ to choose from. From blue cheese to turmeric-infused cheese and a garlic soft cheese – vegans need not miss out on the deliciousness of cheese any longer.

Want to give it a try? Well, it's currently sold out, but it's sure to be back in stock soon. Best keep an eye on their website.
