Wildlife enthusiast and TV presenter Sir David Attenborough will open Woodberry Wetlands conservation site this weekend.

The wetlands were constructed in 1833 and will launch to the public for the first time on Sunday May, following a grand opening on Saturday April 30.

The reservoir, owned and managed by Thames Water, has been deemed a ‘wildlife oasis’, with hope that the conservation site will bring new species to the urban land.

The 11 hectare site has been under development to be deemed safe for the public for the past 6 years after being named a site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation.

The site will be open daily with free admission, while there will be a variety of conservation activities throughout the summer for those wanting to help conserve the habitats.

Whether you’re looking for a guided walk around the site, to learn about the different species of birds and butterflies, or discover wildlife photography, the Woodberry Wetlands has something to offer.
