Afternoon tea: Cogsworth will feature

An afternoon tea themed around Beauty and the Beast, complete with Mrs. Potts and Chip Potts dishware, is coming to London.

It is being laid on to celebrate the forthcoming live action remake of the Disney classic, which is due for release this spring, and will run at Town House at The Kensington from mid February until the end of June.

Named Tale as Old as Time, the tea will include a selection of sweets and savouries linked — some more tenuously than others — to elements of the film.

One creation will be a vanilla and gold jelly, presented in shot glasses with a rose petal immersed inside and served with cream poured from Mrs. Potts’ spout. Another will be a spiced snow ball macaroon, which refers to the classic scene featuring Belle and Beast’s flirtatous snowball fight.

There’ll also be a chocolate clock tart, featuring an image of the character Cogsworth’s face, and a Try the Grey Stuff white chocolate mousse, which references the dessert recommended by everyone’s favourite candlestick Lumière in the song Be Our Guest.

The experience is completed with a selection of rare teas and costs £35 a head, or £45 with a glass of champagne.
