If you’re partial to some booze with your burger, then you’re in luck — Burger King is about to start selling beer.

The company will shortly begin selling bottled American beer at its Bury St Edmunds branch, which has just been granted a licence to do so, and is also applying for three more licences at its Blackpool, Hull and Newcastle-under-Lyme sites.

If a trial at these branches proves successful, it will likely look into rolling the beer out across more of its 654 UK locations.

This would include, no doubt, some of its London sites.

Either way, the move is quite significant and is likely to set a precedence for more of the same. It is the first time in the UK’s history that a fast food chain has been allowed to sell alcohol.

The chain will sell the beer, in plastic bottles, from 10am to 9pm daily, but will not be allowed to let customers take it off-site.
