A Pink Floyd-themed afternoon tea with “prog rock pastries” inspired by three of the band’s most famous album covers is being launched as part of the Standard’s London Food Month.

The £50-a-head tea at the Gore Hotel in Kensington includes entry to the Pink Floyd exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. Delicacies feature a lemon sponge cake with jelly and marshmallow “bricks”, and chocolate piping mimicking the cover of album The Wall. A pyramid-shaped chocolate mousse with rainbow icing is a homage to Dark Side Of The Moon. Fans of the album Animals can savour a carrot cake shaped like Battersea Power Station with a cream cheese “chimney” and white chocolate ganache “flying pig”.

Traditional scones and sandwiches will also be served, with cakestands made from records — a 12in LP as the lower tier and a 7in single for the top. The tea will be available while the exhibition runs, from May 13 to October 10.

Maurizio Redaelli, London general manager at Starhotels, operator of the Gore, said: “With our Pink Floyd Experience in partnership with the V&A we have created a new way of having afternoon tea with more rock ’n’ roll.”
