Duck & Waffle launch treasure hunt for free food at new restaurant

Find a duck and your day will go swimmingly
Not quackers: find one of the red ducks and trade it in for a free meal

Duck & Waffle are celebrating the opening of their new restaurant, Duck & Waffle Local, with a treasure hunt.

Tomorrow, May 3, 1,000 red rubber ducks will be hidden across the capital for Londoners to find. Anyone who picks one up can then head to the Piccadilly spot to swap the duck for a dish.

All the ducks are nearby the new restaurant, in St James’s Market, and keen Instagrammers can pick up clues by searching the hashtag #waddlethisway. The red toys can be handed into the restaurant throughout the day, from 8am until 10pm.

The new Duck & Waffle is a riff on the original sky high concept, but far from a carbon copy on the ground: something like an upmarket fast food joint, it will continue in theme of serving sweet and savoury flavours together. Dishes on the new menu include a duck burger, a duck jam doughnut and the signature dish for which the restaurant is named. However, there will be no reservations, meals are available for takeaway, and the restaurant won’t be open 24 hours a day.
