Chef couple: Emily Roux and Diego Ferrari will open their first restaurant together
Lizzie Thomson4 July 2018

Emily Roux will join the family dynasty when she opens her first restaurant in October, Caractère, with husband Diego Ferrari.

Roux, the daughter of Michel Roux Jr, and Ferrari, who is head chef at her father's twice Michelin-starred Le Gavroche, will open together in Notting Hill.

Roux first hinted at the plan back in March, when she announced that she had put in an offer for somewhere, but now has confirmed the news.

Food will focus on simple French and Italian dishes, incorporating both Roux and Ferrari’s expertise and heritage and similarly, the wine list will feature both French and Italian wines. The pair say the will shine a spotlight on smaller winemakers.

Roux said “My background and my training is, of course, classic French fine dining, but I’ve always been so in love with Italian food.

“Then I found love with Italian-born Diego when we were both working in Monaco at Alain Ducasse’s three Michelin starred restaurant, Le Louis XV.

“Since we’ve been together, he has taught me so much about Italian food. Our new restaurant brings together our story, and our menu will always be a reflection of the food we love to cook and love to eat.”
