Londoners are being offered a “once-in-a-lifetime” chance to dine with three generations of Britain’s most influential gastronomic dynasty during London Food Month.

Albert Roux — the first British-based chef to win a Michelin star — his son Michel Roux Jr and his “rising star” granddaughter Emily will host dinner at the family’s Le Gavroche restaurant in Mayfair on June 28.

Emily will prepare a six-course culinary journey through the 50-year history of the first British restaurant to win three Michelin stars. Guests will sit round the table in the “chef’s library” with Albert and Michel Jr.

Just four tickets will go on sale at 10am on Monday priced at £995 a head — with all proceeds going to Michel Jr’s charity Victa, which supports blind and partially sighted children.

Michel Jr, who has been a judge on MasterChef: The Professionals, said: “It will be quite an occasion. It’s not often myself and my father are at the table to talk about the history of food or indeed wherever the conversation takes us.

“My daughter will be in the kitchen but she will come in and talk to us as well.

“The menu will reflect the changing character of dining in London through the decades from the Sixties. We haven’t decided on the menu yet, we will do that nearer the time but the dishes will be very Gavroche and inspired by some of the old menus.

“It will be a reflection of how food has changed but remain true to our roots and very French and based on the classics.”

Two “greatest hits” dishes likely to appear on the menu include cheese soufflé, which has been a favourite with diners since the Sixties, and lobster mousse with caviar and a champagne butter sauce.

The evening starts with a champagne reception at 6pm followed by the meal with matching wines from Michel Jr’s private cellar.

The four guests will receive a Le Gavroche 50th anniversary cookbook signed by the three members of the Roux family.

Albert and his brother Michel Snr revolutionised the British restaurant scene with openings such as The Waterside Inn in Bray and Le Gavroche when they arrived during the “dark ages” of British cooking in the Sixties. Michel Jr told the Standard: “We Roux have a lot to answer for.”

As well as the Le Gavroche dinner, three London Food Month events are taking place at the Roux family’s cookery school in Clapham, Cactus Kitchens.

Michel Jnr and Emily will run a cooking masterclass for 12 guests on June 21, while a baking course will take place with the Luminary charity, which helps train vulnerable women to be bakers. There will also be a supperclub and wine-matching masterclass with sommelier Raul Diaz of Channel Four and Roux executive chef Toby Stuart.
