The Evening Standard's restaurant critic details the culinary highlights of her week
Home-cooking: end-of-season green asparagus
Fay Maschler24 June 2015

1. The Consortium — a group of restaurant hacks who occasionally lunch together — choosing from the exceptional Plateau de Fromages at Le Gavroche thrill to Zoe Williams and Tom Parker Bowles debating the election results.

2. Helping to judge Best in Show at Taste of London, there was no dissent from the view that The Clove Club’s lamb cutlet with gochuchang, black sesame and mint was the winner.

3. Two wonderful, otherworldly dishes at the captivating new Chutney Mary in St James’s, shahi nihari chicken soup (far beyond bone both) and sarson ka saag.

4. End-of-season green asparagus, from John Chinn’s Wye Valley Farm bought at Bayley & Sage in Wimbledon cooked, rather wistfully, at home.

5. Sunday lunch at The Canonbury Tavern revealed three ways with potatoes (Irish manager), five veg and a spaceship Yorkshire pudding accompanying roast saddle of lamb.
