Short and sharp: steak tartare at Bar Boulud

1. The Wigmore, a new tavern attached to The Langham hotel, is a Michel Roux Jr. project and a haven near Oxford Circus. Spiced cauliflower kedgeree with puri sports a fine, arguably French tomato relish.

2. I want something short and sharp for lunch and small-sized steak tartare at Bar Boulud fits the bill perfectly.

3. Supper from my dear friend and indefatigable provider Caroline Conran of chicken with aubergine-tomato jam from a recipe in Paula Wolfert’s The Food of Morocco.

4. Lunch with legendary chef Nico Ladenis and his wife Dinah-Jane at Mosimann’s finishes with Anton’s almost equally mythical bread-and-butter pudding.

5. Before Perestroika, the four-hours-plus second part of Angels in America broadcast live from NT to Everyman Belsize Park, a food run including fresh raspberries at Budgens next door. The week before at Millennium Approaches, the first part, Everyman’s “Antipasti” runs out.
