Bonnes bouches at The Langham

1. Exhilaration on leaving an early morning viewing of Rembrandt: The Late Works was sustained by smoked salmon and scrambled eggs and the notable cordiality of our waiter at the National Café.

2. Why it was dinner at The Langham’s Palm Court to celebrate 22 uproarious years married to Reg is a long story. Pâtissière Cherish Finden made these bonnes bouches (pictured).

3. Violinist Kung Wha Chung was sublime — particularly in the Franck sonata — Christmas lights shimmering over the river joyful but crab cake at the Festival Hall’s Skylon restaurant miserable.

4. Delighted to see chef Elisha Carter at Domino in the Café Royal, where Cornish crab, sesame crème fraiche, radish and dashi was star of a tasting menu.

5. Though I say it myself, oxtail stew made in my thickset Timo Sarpeneva cast-iron pot with meat from Ginger Pig was mighty fine.
