Our restaurant critic Fay Maschler enjoys a post-theatre supper at The Green Man and French Horn and is won over by the polenta at Palomar
Too elevated? A Mary Berry sponge cake

1. It’s still Riesling Summer at The Remedy in Cleveland Street, where Riesling Trocken 2013 Weingut Bischel was delicious and a firm friend of cod goujons with spicy tomato dip.

2. Polenta Jerusalem-style with asparagus, mushroom ragout, Parmesan, and truffle oil at The Palomar is extraordinarily light, gentle, subtle and harmonious. We could all learn from it.

3. Salted nuts and lacquered crackers in the discreet, comfortable bar at the Egerton House Hotel, where venerable Antonio makes what have been described as the best martinis in London.

4. After breathtaking performances from Natalia Osipova and Ivan Vasiliev in Solo for Two at ENO, supper at The Green Man and French Horn included a fouetté of girolles, fresh pasta, broad beans, rocket and walnuts.

5. A Victoria sponge, pictured, made from a Mary Berry recipe for my sister Beth’s birthday. Mary dear, so much baking powder is too elevating.
