Gone are the days of soaking up your sixth pint with a pickled egg. Street food traders are bunking down for winter in pubs across the capital. Sorry, Twiglets.

Squid Kitchen

Three guesses what to order. Delicate battered tentacles and Vampire Killer aioli, or carb-load with a Spanish chip butty.

Info: The King and Co, SW4 7BZ, until September 30,

Mother Clucker

Tea-brined, buttermilk-battered, secretly-seasoned and NOT FOR SHARING. Categorically the best fried chicken in London.

Info: Cat & Mutton, E8 4QJ, until February 2016

Darjeeling Express

Curry and beer? Obviously. Asmar Khan’s drool-inducing prawn malaikari has critics in ecstasy and the samosas make grown (drunk) men weep.

Info: The Sun and 13 Cantons, W1F 9NG, until March 2016

Don’t trust anyone who names their balls Zeus. Apart from these. Mint, lemon and olives make juicy lamb meatballs taste of long-forgotten sunshine.

Info: The Duke’s Head, N6 5JG, until September 30

Sub Cult

Massive, man- (or woman-) defeating sandwiches. The Rodeo has a cult following: rare sirloin, Provolone cheese and pickled chilli, slathered in truffle mayo.
