M Threadneedle Street has built its own beach just in time for winter

Beachy happenings: the October event poses many questions
Lizzie Thomson2 October 2018

While many of us have bid farewell to summer for another year, it would seem one London restaurant is refusing to accept that is winter is coming.

M Restaurants is offering guests the chance to hire their own beach from October 5-6.

The "city beach" will feature a pool, beach volleyball pitch, football table, day beds, deck chairs, parasols and a bar.

Despite the outdoorsy appeal of summer, M Threadneedle Street are hosting the pop-up beach inside.

The summery celebration launched on September 25, but up until now has been exclusively available for M members. Now, for one weekend only, the restaurant group is opening up the space to the public.

The menu will pay homage to summertime favourites – that are now out of season – featuring dishes such as crispy whitebait and a cookies and cream ice cream sandwich. Perhaps there will be the last of the summer wine, too,
