McDonald’s new bookable VIP experience includes a string quartet and 'diamond' cutlery

McUpgrade: The new luxury restaurant will launch next week
Lizzie Thomson7 August 2018

"McDonald’s" and "luxury" are two words that don’t usually share the same sentence but as of next week, the pair will be on everyone’s lips.

The fast food giants are a trialling a new luxury restaurant in London, where customers can reserve a VIP table online in advance.

The bizarre pilot will fittingly take place in their High Street Kensington branch, an area known for its upmarket shops and eateries.

If that wasn’t enough of an upgrade, the lucky VIPs will be welcomed into the restaurant by a string quartet and will dine surrounded by velvet curtains and ‘diamond’-encrusted cutlery.

Not to mention, customers' burger of choice will be served under a silver cloche by white-gloved butlers. Classy stuff.

The new luxury restaurant concept is a publicity stunt to celebrate the launch of their gourmet style burger range — the Signature Collection.

Online reservations are open from Wednesday August 8 and (depending on the success of the trial) McDonald's may roll it out again in future.

VIP bookings can be made from midnight on August 8 at mcdonalds.com
