London’s most carnivorous celebration will return for its fourth year in September, bringing top chefs from around the world to Tobacco Dock for three days of meat, fire and music.

Meatopia will run from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September, and will feature a lineup of more than 40 chefs.

Returning names include Hawksmoor executive chef Richard Turner — who is responsible for bringing this popular American event to the UK — along with Duck & Waffle’s Dan Doherty and Tomos Parry from Kitty Fisher’s. Among those making an appearance for the first time will be Berber & Q’s Josh Katz and Yotam Ottolenghi.

Other chefs confirmed to be attending include Kitchen Table’s James Knappett, Oscar Holgado and Tom Adams from Pitt Cue, Shotgun’s Brad McDonald, Shaun Searley from Quality Chop House, Selin Kiazim from Turkish restaurant Oklava, and author and chef Neil Rankin.

International names will include Argentine celebrity chef Francis Mallmann, as seen on Netflix documentary series Chef’s Table, Niklas Ekstedt from Stockholm’s Michelin-starred Ekstedt and Connie De Souza from Calgary’s Charcut.

As well as chef demos and food stalls galore, the weekend will feature a working butchery from Turner & George, fire workshops from Hunter Gather Cook and a full lineup of live music, including Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B and Norman Jay MBE.

This will be washed down with plenty of beer, wine and spirit options, while sister fest Craftopia will offer all manner of craft beers, brewer demos and tasting sessions — all curated by Melissa Cole.

Each day at the festival will have a different vibe. The Saturday will be ‘classic Meatopia’ with a similar set-up to previous years, while the opening night on Friday will be over 18s only and the Sunday will have a family-friendly carnival feel, with street theatre and colourful acts.

Tickets are available at meatopia.co.uk and cost £22.50 for Friday night, £32.50 for Saturday and £30 for Sunday.
