Smith & Sinclair to launch Wonka-style alcoholic sweet shops
Grown up confectioners Melanie Goldsmith and Emile Bernard, aka Smith & Sinclair, are launching two alcoholic sweet emporiums where strictly no kids are allowed.
The duo, who ran a pop-up edible alcohol shop in Carnaby Street last year, will open The Flavour Rooms at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent on November 16, and at the Sanderson hotel in Fitzrovia on November 18. Both will run until Christmas eve.
These Willy Wonka-esque interactive pop-ups will feature a cocktail sherbet wall, edible perfumes and make-your-own alcoholic dib dabs alongside a pick ‘n’ mix of the sweet mongers’ most popular pastilles — including flavours such as daiquiri, G&T, Long Island Iced Tea and whisky sour.
Lollies to be made into dib dabs will come in flavours including Negroni, raspberry Collins and Pina Colada, while sherbets will come in flavours including spiced chocolate and pumpkin.
There will also be ‘salt and pepper mills’ filled with cracked white and milk chocolate, and a space infused with seasonally smelling vapours allowing you to inhale Christmas.
The space at the Sanderson has been designed by BeyondExact, which has been behind several large-scale set pieces including Lady Gaga's David Bowie tribute at the Grammys.
