Not quite getting into the spirit of Christmas, Japanese-Brazilian fusion restaurant Sushisamba has put a £1000 piece of beef on its London menu.

The 1kg portion of Kobe beef is listed at the restaurant’s two London locations, in Shoreditch and Covent Garden, and will be available from December 1 - 31.

The dish, which is designed to feed five people, is served ishiyaki style, meaning it's cut into thin slices and cooked on a hot stone at the table.

The meat itself is taken from prized Japanese Kobe cattle, which are acclaimed for their full flavour, tenderness and extensive fat marbling.

The pricey piece of beef is on offer at the restaurants as part of Sushisamba's Kobe Christmas menu, which uses the beef in a variety of recipes. For diners wishing to spend a little less than a grand, there are short rib croquetas for £34, a ribeye tataki for £68, and individual Kobe buns for £8.

If you were already anticipating feeling the pinch in January, this should definitely do it.
