Swing by for an Ace time

Ace Café: 50s style diner

An iconic Art Deco landmark, Ace Café was home to the original Ton-Up boys - a generation of rubber-burning speed freaks - back when house band, Johnny Kidd & The Pirates and customers, Gene Vincent and Billy Fury ruled the airwaves.

Fashions change and in 1969, the shutters came down. Current owner and Britbeat aficionado, Mark Wilsmore, had the vision and enthusiasm to restore the premises to their former glory, recreating an authentic 1950's drive-in.

Up to 4,000 devotees from as far afield as the US and Japan flock to phenomenally successful gatherings such as Max Power, Classic Cruise, Hot Rod, Harley and Lambretta evenings, with catering and live music themed to match.

Open daily from 7am for fry-ups, burgers and steaks, the fully licensed bar is a stylish hangout to swivelhipped quiffs, grease monkeys and original rockers in a scene straight from seminal biker movie The Leather Boys. Forget IKEA, this is the essential North Circular experience.
