This week's restaurant news...

London plays host to a curry festival, a new branch of steakhouse Black & Blue opens at Borough Market and there's a Fashion Week special to be had at Conran's Sartoria...

» Brick Lane may not be the place to go for the capital's most sophisticated 'Indian' food, but there's no denying the buzz and bustle of the place - and that always cranks up a few gears for the Banglatown International Curry Festival.

The action spills out on to the temporarily pedestrianised street this Sunday, with food stalls from more than 30 participating restaurants offering specially created dishes, and guest chefs imported from all over the subcontinent.

There's street entertainment, too: magicians, children's workshops, live music. The festival takes place around Brick Lane and Allen Gardens, and continues with events up until September 24.

» There's a new branch of Black & Blue - the small steak specialist chain owned by the Tootsies lot - at foodie haven, Borough Market. The trademark outdoor torches lead to a bright, airy space built into the railway bridge arches where you can get your teeth into some fully traceable, traditionally reared, grass-fed beef which has been dry-aged for 28 days. Like its fellows, this branch is dishing up everything from a farfromhumble burger to a 600g cote de boeuf.

» How better to consummate Fashion Week than with a celebratory lunch on September 22 at Sir Tel's clothing-themed Savile Row Italian, Sartoria? For £50 a head, you get three courses of the restaurant's light, contemporary Italian dishes with matching wines and coffee, accompanied by a preview of the new season's looks from the made-to-measure arm of The Savile Row Company, 40 Savile Row. Guests will also pocket a gift bag and an invitation for a personal tailoring consultation. Well sharp.
