This is egg-cellent news for burger fans, says Ben Norum
No yolk: a Scotch Ness Monster burger

Forget biskies, cronuts and duffins – there’s a new hybrid in town and it’s the most egg-cellent one yet.

In a triumph of engineering, ingenious patty-dealing pop-up Yeah! Burger has created a whole menu of scotch egg burgers. Oh yes.

For the uninitiated – this involves doing away with the most boring part of any burger, the bun, and instead sandwiching the fillings between a large halved scotch egg. Genius.

They’ve done it before, a year ago when they launched the Scotch Ness Monster at the Star of Hackney Downs. But this time they’ve put together a whole menu of the beauties.

Fusion food: up for an egg?

As well as the Scotch Ness Monster – made with a beef patty, pickled onions, and cheddar in a white pepper and sage scotch egg – the menu will include The Marco Polo – beef patty, manchego, lemon, aioli and rocket in a chorizo scotch egg – and The Dragon – lamb patty, caramelised leeks and clamato beurre blanc in a haggis and kedgeree scotch egg.

There’s also a vegetarian offering, The Glaswegian, which features buttermilk-fried tofu, kimchi and a wasabi and nori mayonnaise, sandwiched between a mushroom and quinoa scotch egg.

The scotch egg burgers will be around (round being the operative word) for two weeks from August 7-22 and will be available at Yeah! Burger’s residencies at Strongroom Bar & Kitchen in Shoreditch and and The Star of Kings in King’s Cross.
