Not quite in Camden, not quite on Regent’s Park, this Gordon Ramsay spot is an archetypal gastropub: the menu offers upmarket takes on classic British dishes like fish and chips and chicken supreme. There are a few interesting things to try, like scallops with haggis and parsley root, or a venison ragu with chestnut pappardelle. It’s the sort of place that suits big groups: their straightforward British is unlikely to cause any problems, even if it’s also just as unlikely to set anyone’s pulse racing.

Still, it’s reliable, they offer everything from breakfast through to supper, including afternoon tea. It’s arguably a touch pricey, but there’s a lovely dining room and solid wine list to take the edge off the bill. In the summer, the terrace is the ideal spot to unwind at before heading off to the zoo, while in winter their Christmas cabins are always rightly popular.
