Brent Cross redevelopment: new flats in Cricklewood near 15-minute Thameslink trains to King's Cross

A new micro neighbourhood is opening near north-west London's prized local green space Gladstone Park.

Cricklewood joins the latest hotspots on the back of a £4.5 billion redevelopment of Brent Cross that will also bring a new Thameslink station connecting the area to St Pancras in less than 15 minutes.

Young families priced out of West Hampstead are already setting their sights on relatively affordable houses in NW2, less than four miles from Marble Arch, but new flats for singles and couples have been in short supply.

However, launching next month is The Broadway, with 101 flats priced from £425,000.

The scheme isn't in bustling Cricklewood Broadway, it's in Cricklewood Lane, but still in the thick of things. Call Fairview Homes on 020 8023 8517.

Cricklewood came of age in the 1880s when Midland Railway Company moved its locomotive works from Kentish Town to the new Brent Sidings and built an estate of worker cottages, now prized private homes.

Redevelopment of railway lands at Brent Cross will create the new station, 6,700 homes, three schools, four parks, lots of office space, a new shopping centre and a green route across the thundering North Circular to Barnet.

Gladstone Park is a prized local green space and at Gladstone Village, a new micro neighbourhood nearby, housing association Octavia Living has four-bedroom houses from £895,000, with flats to come later. Call 020 8208 8355.
