Reality TV star and business mogul Kim Kardashian has snapped up the $70.4 million (£62 million) Malibu mansion once home to supermodel Cindy Crawford.

The most expensive home sold in Malibu this year, the 7,450sq ft property described as a "beachside oasis" was first listed for $99 million (£87m) through Coldwell Banker according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

So it seems KKW Beauty and Skims founder Kardashian — who appeared on Forbes' World's Billionaire List for the first time in 2021 — has a shrewd eye for property investment, too, having clinched a $28.6 million (£25.2m) price cut.

Crawford and her husband, the US entertainment businessman and former model Rande Gerber, sold the property for £33.9 million in 2018.

In recent years it has been given total renovation by retired hedge fund manager Adam Weiss and his wife, the actress Barret Swatek, who starred in American TV series Yellowstone.

Set in three acres of manicured grounds, above the white sands of El Sol beach in Los Angeles, the compound has its own tennis courts, gym, pool, spa and media room.

Tiled floors, white walls, a terracotta clay-tiled roof and arched windows give the main four-bedroom villa a Mediterranean feel.

Upstairs is the master suite, with a private sitting area, dual spa-style bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe.

Highlights include a deck that circles the whole house, with a fire pit facing the ocean. The villa looks out over the Pacific, offering panoramic sea views — as well as direct access to the beach.

El Sol beach is also home to former Disney Chairman and CEO Michael Eisner, whose family compound was listed for sale in April for a record price of $225 million (£198m).

Kim Kardashian and former husband Kanye West built a colossal mansion in the Hidden Hills that took six years — and more than $20 million — to renovate into what West described in 2020 as a “futuristic Belgian monastery.”

Kardashian gave Vogue a tour of the home earlier this year, saying there have been “a few updates” to it in recent months.

In autumn 2021, West bought a concrete bunker-style house in Malibu which has wall-to-wall views of the Pacific. Recent images showed the US rap star has completely gutted the property he bought for an estimated $57.3 million (£50.5m) which was designed by acclaimed architect Tadao Ando.

A-list neighbours to Kardashian's latest purchase include Lady Gaga, Courtney Cox, Leonaro DiCaprio and Cher.
