The Evening Standard’s celebrated art critic Brian Sewell left an impressive art collection when he died in 2015 — and now his London home is proving a treasure, too.

Sewell moved from his treasured cottage on Westbourne Grove to Caley House in Leopold Road, and wrote his Outsider memoirs while living in the property.

The Wimbledon Village home has been acquired by smart developer West Eleven, which has gained permission from Merton council to create nine luxurious homes on the site.

Work will begin this summer on four mews houses in what is currently the garden, with five apartments in the main house.
