Bronze, a shimmering tower of 77 apartments in burnished panels, reflects not just the sun but the rising allure of Wandsworth town centre.

The local council has paved the way for sweeping changes with the town centre attracting design-conscious young singles and couples priced out of zone one, with new build flats.

For generations, the eight-acre brewery complex in the middle of the town centre was corralled in by an unfriendly one-way road system, hostile for pedestrians and preventing any real sense of neighbourhood.

But it is now being turned into an open waterfront quarter. The Southside shopping mall has been given a makeover and now has a Waitrose supermarket and a Debenhams department store.

Bronze, 20 storeys high, occupies the site of a former light bulb factory and puts some nearby schemes in the shade by offering spacious, light-filled flats with leafy views over King George’s Park and the area’s copious open spaces plus a new public square, small business premises and new pedestrian routes.

Prices from £465,000 to £1.5 million. Call 020 3931 1404.
